Musculoskeletal (MSK) Community Appointment Day in the media
Our MSK Community Appointment Day in Huyton in December made the news with BBC North West Tonight attending to show how patients with appointments were able to discuss their needs with clinicians, physiotherapists, other allied health professionals, charities, voluntary agencies and other community services.
It was a new holistic care approach for patients within the MSK service, involving supporting patients beyond their condition. The purpose of the day, held at a local sports centre, was to provide patient services differently, removing some of the constraints that exist and helping people to make changes to cope with long term conditions.
Our MSK service will fully evaluate this new way of working and provide feedback in the future. More information about the service is on their dedicated webpage and you can watch the BBC news item below.

Our Achievements
Over 500 gifts shared with local children thanks to Mersey Cares' 'Secret Santa' campaign
We’d like to thank everyone who donated to Mersey Cares’ Secret Santa appeal this year, which enabled the Trust’s official charity to share more than 500 gifts and selection boxes with children and young people accessing our services.
It ensured children and young people across Cheshire and Merseyside, facing difficult circumstances, to experience the joy and excitement of receiving a gift during the festive period.
"It was wonderful to hand the presents out,” explained Michael Allcock, team manager for Knowsley’s Children in Care. “One Mum was so grateful for the gifts, it really made her Christmas - there are four children and knowing they have presents to open is amazing.
“Our charity, Mersey Cares, is amazing. I’d also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated – you’re all special!" Further information about the campaign can be found on the Mersey Cares website.

Deputy Chief Medical Officer Rosie Kaur completes Three Peaks Challenge for Mersey Cares
As part of the charity’s 2025 Make it Mersey Cares campaign, we're sharing fundraising stories of some of the brilliant people who have supported Mersey Cares over the last 12 months.
Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Physical Health, Dr Rosie Kaur, successfully completed the ‘Three Peaks Challenge,’ climbing the UK's three highest peaks in just 36 hours (with a little support from her sons and an 11th hour change of plan).
Rosie raised a record breaking £1,450 for the charity and proved the value of pushing beyond your comfort zone to achieve amazing things.
"If you put your mind to things, you really can achieve more than you believe,” she said. Now, if I hear my inner voice telling me I can't do something, I challenge it with, ‘Well, yes, you can do this - you’ve just walked three mountains in a weekend'!” More information about Rosie’s incredible journey can be found on the charity’s website.
