Mersey Care prides itself on being a transparent organisation and we welcome involvement and engagement from patients, service users, carers, staff, the public and any other stakeholders.
One of our main routes for sharing information and initiatives from the Trust is via our social media channels. We are active on five different platforms – X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Bluesky – and we welcome any engagement from the communities we serve.
It’s not a 24/7 operation and we generally monitor our accounts between 9am and 5pm between Monday and Friday and we keep a close eye on all mentions, likes, shares and comments during those periods. We are unlikely to respond straight away outside those hours.
Please do not message us on social media if you want:
- An urgent response out of hours or during a weekend
- Clinical advice or information – contact NHS 111 or your GP instead
- Urgent mental health support – contact our specialist teams instead
- To make a complaint about our services – contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) and Complaints team.
For further information, please consult the Trust’s Social Media Policy.
Our choice of social media platforms should not be regarded as Mersey Care’s endorsement of those accounts or the objectives of those organisations. If we like or repost any content, we are simply liking that post and not all the content from those accounts.
If a member of staff posts something from their personal social media account, that is their own view and does not reflect the views of the Trust.
We are a respectful and inclusive organisation and expect the same values on our social media channels. We will block individuals who indulge in personal attacks, bullying, offensive or derogatory language about our staff or services, hate speech, profanity, obscenity or vulgarity.
Personal information about staff members or service users should also not be shared alongside:
- spam or any other comments posted with the intention of marketing products or for other commercial or promotional purposes
- unacceptable images
- intellectual property infringement or copyright abuse
- medically unsafe or scientifically unsound claims or practices
- vexatious or repeated comments/questions.
The social media accounts we follow do not imply endorsement of any kind. We follow accounts we believe are relevant to our work but do not necessarily agree with or approve of everything those organisations promote. Similarly, retweets and shares do not necessarily mean we endorse the content of those particular posts.
We will not store your personal information via social media but we may contact you in response to a post to either signpost you to one of our services or seek further clarificatioin.
We reserve the right to delete any posts on our pages that are not within the spirit of this guidance.
