Below are some examples of research studies and activities being led by our partners which Mersey Care is supporting. 

Arts4Us  

Mersey Care is a partner in Arts4Us, an Edge Hill University-led mental health project that will give children and young people better access to arts-based therapies and arts activities for wellbeing.  

Integrated Bipolar Parenting Intervention  

Clinical and cost effectiveness of an online integrated bipolar parenting intervention: A randomised controlled trial. Mersey Care is helping to identify potential research participants as a Participant Identification Centre (PIC).  

Study status: Open to recruitment. 

Measuring loneliness 

Identifying the prevalence of social isolation and loneliness in the community setting across England. The study is being led by Imperial College London and Mersey Care is supporting with recruitment of participants and has currently recruited over 30 people. 

Study status: Currently suspended but recruitment will commence shortly.  

The COSI study 

The COSI study: a multi-site randomised controlled trial (RCT) to explore the clinical and cost effectiveness of the Circle of Security Intervention for mothers in perinatal mental health services. Partners and collaborators on the study are Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families (study sponsor), University College London,   

Imperial College London, University of Huddersfield, and Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust. Mersey Care recruited 88 people to the study through a rsearcher embedded within the perinatal mental health service supported by Clinical Research Practitioner from the Trust Research Team.

Tracking anti-microbial resistance across care settings in Liverpool (TRACS-Liverpool) Part 2 

This study, led by Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, is looking at the spread of drug-resistant infections across different care settings in Liverpool. Mersey Care has recruited over 30 people to the study.

GLAD: Genetic Links to Anxiety and Depression 

The GLAD Study is the largest anxiety and depression project ever undertaken. The study is part of the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) BioResource. It is led by researchers at King’s College London, in collaboration with researchers at Ulster University, University of Edinburgh, and Cardiff University. GLAD was launched in September 2018, and over 30,000 participants have fully enrolled. Mersey Care is supporting with recruitment of participants. 

Prevalence of Pathogenic Antibodies in Psychosis 2 (PPiP2) 

The PPiP2 study aims to investigate the prevalence of autoimmune antibodies in patients with psychosis and identify people with psychosis and anti-neuronal membrane antibodies to take part in the SINAPPS2 trial. PPiP2 is a cross-sectional study conducted in over 40 NHS mental health trusts, across England and Scotland. Mersey Care has recruited over 225 people to the study.

Stop Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)  

Surveillance towards preventing paediatric incidence of respiratory syncytial virus attributable respiratory tract infection in primary and secondary/tertiary healthcare settings in Merseyside, Cheshire and Bristol, UK. Mersey Care has recruited over 140 people to the study.
