Cheshire Constabulary went live with phase one of four of RCRP in January 2024 (Merseyside Police to go live 29 April 2024). If you have any questions of Cheshire Constabulary, please contact the team on rightcare
- RCRP is focused on giving the most appropriate and beneficial care to our communities
- Police are not always the right agency to respond to incidents - there are circumstances where health or social care are best placed to offer help and support to vulnerable people
- RCRP will not stop police attending incidents where there’s a threat to life as they have a duty to protect our communities and will continue to do so
- Police are working with health and social care to make necessary changes to service provision to ensure that vulnerable people are given appropriate care by the appropriate agency.
Hear about the approach developed by Humberside Police, in the video below.
To support local implementation of RCRP for people with mental health needs, the National Police Chiefs’ Council and College of Policing developed a toolkit covering: decision making in relation to the RCRP threshold for police response, partnership working, training requirements, and data standards and evaluation.
