What is a Static Pressure Mattress?
This mattress is designed for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers and is inteded to be used in conjunction with an appropriately sized bed frame, as part of an overall pressure ulcer prevention programme of care.
Safe use of the Static Pressure Mattress
Our aim is to keep you safe while you receive our care. Please follow these tips for safe use:
- Make sure the mattress is placed on the bed with the printed information facing upwards
- Make sure the zip is closed and the flap is completely covering it
- Only use a loose fitting sheet
- Make sure any creases are smoothed out
- Do not use waterproof mattress covers, electric blankets, sheepskins or other items.
How to know when your mattress needs a review
Your mattress could be in need of a review if:
- It remains flat in some areas when you get off and does not regain shape
- The surface appears cracked or flaky
- The zip doesn’t close
- The cover is soiled or badly stained
- The mattress cover is ripped or torn.
