Who we are
Knowsley Youth Offending Service provides assessment, treatment and support to children aged 10-19 years and their families.
Our service works as a multi-agency response to prevent offending and re-offending by children in Knowsley. We aim to support the child in making changes to their behaviours and decision making with the overall goal of improving life chances and ensuring safer communities.
Our service is a statutory service that works with children on a continuum from those arrested and diverted from the police and the court system (out of court disposals) across the youth justice system including statutory community interventions from court (referral orders, youth rehabilitation orders, intensive supervision & surveillance) and those children sentenced and released from custody.
We work in partnership across the children's workforce with:
- Children's/Adult Social Care
- Children's Post 16 Provision.
- Education
- Health
- Housing and accommodation providers
- Police
- Probation
- Voluntary Sector
The service is available via referral from local police via the divert/out of court system or the court and secure estate.
At your first appointment, you will meet with a specialist health practitioner who will complete a Comprehensive Health Assessment Tool (CHAT). This will assist the team in identifying what support you require. A plan will be put together which looks at what health needs you may have and what concerns or behaviours you wish to address.
Knowsley Youth Offending Service provides support at venues across the borough including, clinics, schools, youth clubs, homes and police stations.
We also provide support into the Secure Setting and Youth Offending Institutes.
