Based at the Scott Clinic, the FIRT cover statutory duties under mental health legislation and the duties of care co-ordinator.
The FIRT work with service users with severe and enduring mental health problems, who have complex needs. These could involve potential risk and/or security issues.
The team provides a forensic inpatient and community service, prior to admission, during treatment and following discharge from services, with the aim of effective resettlement into the community ensuring a seamless approach.
Social workers undertake statutory work under the Mental Health Act (1983), Mental Capacity Act (2005) including deprivation of liberty safeguards, police and criminal evidence act (1984), NHS and Community Care Act (1990), Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act (2004) and respective Codes of Practice (See Operational Guidelines for Social Care).
