Information for parents and carers

Relationships are everything!Sometimes things can get in the way of building a relationship with your baby, such as depression, anxiety, a traumatic birth, or your own

Having a baby can bring back and highlight these hurts and negative side, without the support, of a specialist team. We can help you to ‘separate out’ these past and present struggles, so that you are free to be the best parent you can be.Who we work withWe provide non-judgemental parent-infant therapy and support, for pregnant women, new parents and their partners. Some of the families we support may:

  • struggle with their mental healt
  • have/had problems with drugs and alcoho
  • experience, including

    • miscarriage and losing a bab
    • have suffered trauma and abuse
  • own parents/ partners

    • require support by a group of professionals, including a social worke
    • feel concerned about the relationship

    • We offer a safe place for parents/carers to think about their babies and their own lives and relationship
    • We carry out specialist work with babies and their mums, dads and carers; this can be in parents’ homes and in group sessions, within the communit
  • We provide specialist information, training and advice to families and professional

    • We support families, as part of a multi-agency group, alongside midwives, health visitors, GP’s, adult mental health services, early help, children’s social care and the voluntary sector
    • Clinical psychologists / clinical psychotherapis
    • Specialist health visitors

    How to access our serviceYou can be referred into our service if you are pregnant, or have a baby aged 0 to 3 months,

    we can support mums, dads and carers.

    Referrals, into our service, can be made via your midwife, health visitor, GP, social worker and staff from the local family hubs and voluntary sector.
