Accessing the service

Members of the public can ring Careline, Liverpool City Council's social care centre, on 0151 233 3091 to be referred to an occupational therapist. 

NHS and Social Services staff should contact the service directly via phone or email.

Community Equipment Service process referrals via a system called TCES. We no longer accept paper copy referrals.  

Liverpool Community Equipment Service operates seven days a week at the following times:

Monday to Friday: 8am to 8pm

Saturday and Sunday:  9am to 5pm (Deliveries only)

Prior to ordering a special item please check online or with equipment service that these items are not already in stock. Any items available in recycled stock will be delivered as per delivery speeds requested.

If you have any urgent panel requests please follow the process and email sep@merseycare.nhs.uk and request a consideration for an urgent panel review.

If you have access to satellite stock please also use this in the first instance.

Information for Acute Trusts

Equipment provision required for safe discharges (Acute Trusts)

To ensure a safe and seamless discharge from hospital, equipment provision needs should be assessed and prescribed by the discharging clinician.

To ensure a positive patient journey please assess and prescribe equipment in a timely manner. This will also reduce any associated patient harm, risk or readmission.

It is the responsibility of the hospital to prescribe the equipment from the appropriate ordering system, for those patients who are discharged into Liverpool or Sefton under the care of Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust (see attached flow chart). The prescribed equipment will be issued from the appropriate equipment services.

The local process referral route should be followed upon discharge for those patients requiring ongoing intervention or review. Patients’ ongoing needs will be reviewed by the most appropriate service.
