International Year of the Nurse and Midwife 2020

Mersey Care is supporting the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife. This celebrates the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth. The year 2020 has been designated by the World Health Organisation as the first ever International Year of the Nurse and Midwife. For the first time in history, all countries across the world will be united in celebrating the valuable contributions of nursing and midwifery.

This campaign has been described as a once in a generation opportunity to showcase the roles and we are delighted to see nurses given this international platform. It’s also an opportunity to recognise, respect and celebrate the contributions of our nurses and the difference they make  to our patients, service users and their families each and every day.

We want to grab this opportunity throughout this year to help our nurses show everyone how special it is to be a Mersey Care nurse.

We will share pictures, stories and videos on our website and social media using #YearoftheNurseandMidwife.

If you have any inspiring stories about how any of our nurses have supported you or a loved one, or made a positive impact on your life, email: communications@merseycare.nhs.uk
