Specialist Learning Disabilities Carers group
Our Specialist Learning Disabilities Service carers group meets informally every six weeks over coffee and cake. Carers can discuss topics of interest to them in a relaxed atmosphere. We have guest speakers and there is information on subjects relevant to learning disability care. You can contribute in any way that suits you best: listen, join in, ask questions or suggest topics for future meetings. Here is the list of 2018 meeting dates for our Whalley site:
All families and friends are welcome and must be over 18. If you need any further information, please contact Tracy Collard, Service User and Carer Participation Manager on 01254 821152.
At a recent meeting we discussed the Triangle of Care. This is a model developed by the Carers Trust and the National Mental Health Development Unit which creates a therapeutic alliance between carers, service users and professionals. It recommends better partnership working and Mersey Care has received their highest award of two stars, demonstrating our commitment to carers. Learn more at the Carers’ Trust website here
