Forensic integrated resource team

Based on the Scott Clinic MSU site, the functions of the FIRT encompass both the statutory duties under Mental Health Legislation and the duties of care co-ordinator within the CPA.  The FIRT work with service users with primary severe and enduring mental health problems, who have complex needs, involving potential risk and/or security issues and provide an appropriately, timely response to those persons who meet the referral criteria according to need.  It aims to provide a forensic inpatient and community service throughout the individual’s treatment/care pathway, prior to admission, during inpatient treatment and following discharge from secure inpatient services with the aim of effective resettlement into the community to ensure a seamless approach to service care delivery.

Social workers undertake statutory work under the Mental Health Act (1983), Mental Capacity Act (2005) including deprivation of liberty safeguards, police and criminal evidence act (1984), NHS and Community Care Act (1990), Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act (2004) and respective Codes of Practice (See Operational Guidelines for Social Care).
