Joe Rafferty, Chief Executive of Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, said: "Mersey Care is looking forward to working alongside Liverpool Community Health colleagues and using the expertise of both trusts to deliver and further improve the quality of community healthcare services.
“Subject to the approvals process, the transfer of staff and services to Mersey Care in April will provide an exciting opportunity to integrate community physical and mental health services. It will enable people to be cared for in their own community and remain as independent as possible, along with more appropriate stays in hospital.
“I’d like to assure patients and their families that a thorough review of practices, processes and the culture of the organisation is taking place to ensure there is no repeat of the events that led to this independent review.
“We are also committed to providing colleagues with a supportive work environment and will be introducing a Fair and Just Culture within the organisation, including taking guidance from world renowned expert, Professor Sidney Dekker.”
