Patients are reminded to plan ahead by ordering repeat prescriptions early and and making sure winter medicines like pain killers, cold remedies and tablets for tummy troubles are fully stocked up.

Medical help and advice will be available over the Christmas and New Year period, but please bear in mind that GP surgeries and A&E deparments may be exceptionally busy.

If your usual GP practice is closed over Christmas, you can still see a local GP through the out of ours service by calling NHS 111 - including over evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

All the NHS walk in centres in Liverpool will be open between 8.00am and 8.00pm throughout the Christmas period. The only exception is on Christmas Day itself, when Old Swan Walk in Centre and South Liverpool (Garston) Walk in Centre will be open, but Liverpool City Walk-in Centre and Smithdown Children’s Walk-in Centre will be closed.
