Mersey Care's ongoing 'Help Us Help You' campaign of urging Cheshire and Merseyside residents to seek advice before attending busy A&E departments has helped the region manage the challenging Christmas and New Year period without significant disruption.

Working alongisde the region's health system to help alleviate pressures on A&E by encouraging people to choose the most appropriate service for their health care needs, Mersey Care’s robust winter/resilience plan has resulted in just 2% of community patients who attended their walk-in and urgent treatment centres being referred onto local hospitals.

Using their social media messages
and dedicated webpage  they continue to promote important messages around urgent treatment and walk-in centres, self care, NHS 111 and how to access mental health support in a crisis.

The public are still being urged to help the campaign by arranging winter vaccines, keeping warm, staying active and looking out for others during the winter period.

Their ambition is to save significant bed days this winter, which they are on track to achieve, which will be across both acute and mental health services. Mersey Care's success in helping the wider health system is illustrated above.
