Mersey Care has teamed up with mental health charity 'Shout 85258' to launch a free text messaging service to help those struggling to cope or feeling overwhelmed.
At the start of the pandemic we recognised restrictions would have an adverse effect on people’s mental health and set up our 24/7 mental health phone line to ensure people got the right level of support, at the right time, for their specific needs.
Building on the successful outcome of this service, we’ve teamed up with ‘Shout 85258’ to provide a free 24/7 text messaging service. It will provide support for anyone struggling with mental health issues.
Working directly with those texting the line, the service helps them take the next steps towards feeling better. People can text to talk about issues such as stress, anxiety and depression.
Texting the word HEAL to 85258 puts the texter in contact with a trained mental health professional.
A Mersey Care spokesman said: "We all need support from time to time and being able to offer our services in this way has really inspired greater satisfaction the role over the last 12 months. I feel there are fewer barriers when accessing our services than ever before and it’s improving constantly.”
