Psychological services

Mersey Care has a range of staff skilled in psychological work across both its local and secure divisions. The type of psychological care provided varies according to the needs of people using their services.

Many services operate as multi-professional teams, and most of these include an applied psychologist, working closely with other staff - psychiatrists, allied health professionals, nursing and social care staff – some of whom may also have trained in psychological therapy, or have studied psychology as part of their basic training.  Psychologists support and supervise other workers to use psychological approaches in their work, as well as having direct contact with services.

A few small teams in the trust are mainly made up of staff who are specialists in psychological approaches; these include the Eating Disorders and Psychotherapy teams, trauma rehabilitation pathway and Sefton Aspergers team.

Contact switchboard and ask for the relevant team.
