Learning disability emergency service

Our specialist emergency support outside of the learning disability team’s normal working hours is for people with a learning disability who are displaying challenging health needs. This might include:

  • Challenging behaviour to the person’s family, carers or the public
  • Self-harm behaviour that may need emergency medical attention
  • Mental health support where you feel the person may need hospital treatment

The service is led by a senior nurse with the help of a support worker. Staff who deliver this service will provide advice and guidance, signposting to the most appropriate service or, if necessary, they will come and assist in resolving the situation.

5.00pm - 9.00am Monday to Friday 24 hours per day at weekends and bank holidays.
